Welcome to the PNC/XOR Facility

PNC/XOR comprises both the bending magnet and undulator beamlines at Sector 20 of the Advanced Photon Source.

Research at our facility focuses primarily on spectroscopic  (XAFS, DAFS) and microbeam (microprobe mapping, micro-XAFS, micro-Diffraction) applications of hard X-rays.

On this website, you should find here most, if not all of the information relevant to accessing and using the PNC/XOR beamlines. If you feel something is missing or is in need of further clarification, please contact us.

Beamline Announcements:

1.Deadline for GU Proposals for 2008-3 is July 11, 2008. Expect a slightly shortened schedule due to DOE funding issues.

2. XAFS Sample Preparation Facility is available in 435E030. See webpage for details.

3. 10-digit dialing now required for local calls due to overlap of 630 and 331 area codes.

4. MBE2 will be in position for run 2008-2. The 8-Circle diffractometer will be unavailable, but is likely available for part of 2008-3.

5. 401 Grill closing earlier - 8pm weekdays, 5pm weekends!
